Hey guys, I have Sharepoint on a Server and everything was working ok until today I decided to upgrade that servers IE7 to IE8...after I did that NOBODY at all can access the SharePoint site anymore...we get the "You are not authorized to view this page" message...seems like there is a permissions issue...so I uninstalled IE8 and now have IE7 on that server but the problem still persists..in the link below you can see the error we get..usually if i try to access the site i open my browser and it shows right up but now i get a login screen and no matter what admin account i use it does not let me view it. the site..can anyone help me please?..is it a setting in IIS?

Are you running MOSS 2007 sp2? I believe that is the only version which supports IE8.

Also, check to ensure that intranet mode is turned on and there is an advanced option dealing with integrated authentication you could check out (I can't remember exactly what the terminology is)

Nope..I am running version 2003 MOSS. But I did remove Internet Explorer 8 and now I re installed Internet Explorer 7 and have the same issue :-(

Where is this "intranet mode"??..is this in IIS?

Now that I remember there were some updates that were installed today as well...should I un-install the updates to see if that helps?

uninstalling all updates did not help..this sucks

I had a similar issue after upgrading my desktop to IE8. found that you i had to hit my wss site in compatiability view in order for it to work.

Thanks so much for the reply, actually I got the site to work now with the help of some Microsoft guys..but of course now I am having a different issue....now when some users access the site they get a logon screen to enter their user name and password...really weird...anyway when they enter their domain user name and password (IIS is setup with Windows Integrated Authentication)..they still get the login again and again even though they enter the login information correctly.....odd thing is that if they hit "cancel" they are able to access the site but if they click on a link on the site they get the logon information again..if they hit cancel they can access the link,,,this is really odd and frustrating since every thine they need o access a link on the site a login screen comes up..is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks so much...As I said this happens only to some users not ALL...and all users ar emember of the same group in sharePoint so I do not think is permissions issue on the Share Point Site

is the site in the Local Intranet sites list in ie?
also, in the security settings for IE for the intranet zone, click on custom level and scroll to the bottom of that dialog. There is a User Authentication section which has the options for Automatic Logon. Try different settings with them.

yes I have tried all off that...this issue happens only to some users...not all...some are able to see everything fine..and yes all users are member of the same group which makes it very odd...I did noticed that when they get to the site the fonts and graphics look very weird ( they are able to see to logo fine).....it looks as if they were in safe mode, you know... like everything is big as if it was in a very low resolution...this happens to all the users that get the login screen...the users that do not have problems can see everything fine in the right resolution
