SharePoint Data Installation

I am attempting to Install SharePoint 2003 and when it ask for program and data installtion it is not allowing me to install the data onto another server. It is only allowing me to keep it on the host machine. Is there a way to direct the data to another server or does it have to reside on the local machine?

Any info. is appreciated.

this is by design, you can't set the data on another machine.

if you are using san or nas infrastructure you could mount a new volume and put it there
