hey all...Need some help badly...I'm new to Sharepoint 3 so bear with me. I have a server running Windows Server 2003 with Sharepoint Services 3 on it. it is connected through a switch to our Exchange server, and all works well internally.

My problem is this. I have a dedicated IP address for the second NIC on the server. That is configured so we can access the site outside of the company. However, when you type in the IP address and it prompts for the username and password, It is NOT using the users name/password from Active Directory on the Exchange server, it is using the Login/Password of the Sharepoint server itself. Since I cannot give this out of course, what am I missing? I'm sure it's something simple, but i just cant figure it out...

any help will be appreciated!

Why would you use the IP address anyway? Why not tie it to an External DNS name and put that in Alternate Address Mappings in Central Admin

sorry, I guess I should have put down that I have the dedicated IP tied to a DNS name..but it still only accepts the server login and password, not the users login/passwords as supplied by active directory.
