Sharepoint 2010 Standard edition and Visual Studio 2010

WE have Sharepoint 2010 standard edition. I also have Visual Studio 2010. Can I develop SP workflows and applications in Vis Studio with standard edition or is enterprise edition necessary for this?

You must install the following prerequisites on the system before you can use the SharePoint solution development tools included in Visual Studio 2010:

Visual Studio 2010 Professional or an edition of Visual Studio Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
