I've got the EventID 202 "Synchronization error" filling up the event
logs every 2 minutes..

I've seen some comments on what to do to fix it, but none have worked
thus far (disabling admin service etc).

Anyone fixed this issue?

Thanks

I haven't encountered the error but I went a-Googling for a while. Seems to be related to one of the servers (or databases) being removed from the farm or being down for a period of time.

Are all your servers/databases up? Did you restart the admin service on all the servers in the farm?

Also, have you seen this post on ?

Ionut Marin on (Last update 11/3/2004):
From a newsgroup post: "Go to IIS manager, open each site, and go to the home directory tab. Then, there is a section at the bottom called Application pools. Edit each and set the account to someone who has logon as a service right to the local server".

We just have one server, which was upgraded to 2007 from 2003 a few months ago.. everything is up and working, except that error.

I did see that note on eventid.net.. I wasnt sure which IIS app pool its referring to.

I have these:

CentralAdminAppPool
Intranet (our actual sharepoint intranet site)
Intranet App Pool
MSSharepointAppPool
MSSharepointPortalAppPool
SharePoint Central Administration
spwspool
stsadminapppool

The eventid.net post says to Edit each, so I would check each app pool to see what user they are set to use and ensure that user has the "logon as a service" permission. Perhaps reapply the account setting for each IIS app server just to make sure.

I tried this as well.. changing all of them to the account with full rights, no go.

I also tried the one tip saying to disable the "Sharepoint Portal Administration" service..

When I click stop.. it tells me these services will also be shutdown:

MS SharepointPS Search..

I click yes and it times out and cant shutdown (the admin one).

I'm not sure that this is even a good thing, I would think that the PS Search would be needed.

UPDATE: I decided just to set the "Sharepoint Portal Administration" service to disabled and then reboot..

After rebooting, none of these errors in the event viewer.. however,

the "Ms SharepointPS Search" service is also set to disabled (as a result of the dependency)..

I'm not sure if this service is needed or not?
