OH
I get this Legend (R7/10) job where the DID number points to extension 310 but there are only 3 appearances and they have 4 agents in the group. I add two more buttons to my MLX-28 and I can dial 5 times into the phone.

Now my problem begins. I can put SSA 4 and 5 (-D) on the other phones, but they don't flash or ring. What's up with that? In programming it appears (INSPECT shows it, and the manual doesn't say anything more. I did put them on buttons 1,2,3,8 & 9 on the 310 phone and wherever they fit on the other phones. Did I do something wrong, ie do they need to be consecutive? They ring in that order on 310.

The -D means delayed ring. You may need to change the ringer options on each SSA button

Yeah, I had to work hard to get the -D on the button :) I think that was page 517 in the manual.

310/01 310/02 and 310/03 flash and delay ring fine, 310/04 and 310/05 don't.

I am sorry i misunderstood your post. I thought you wanted them to ring immediate. I am not sure what your issue is with this. I am sure someone else will..

Instead of 310/04 and 310/05 buttons, you need to add 310/08 and 310/09 to those other phones - because even though they are the 4th and 5th SA buttons on 310, they live on buttons 9 and 10.

You might want to start over, change the layout of 310 so that the SA buttons are all together, clean up the positions of the other buttons and features, then add the SSA buttons to the other phones.

Thanks! I wondered if that might be the problem since the docs said something about the buttons had to be in the first 9 positions.

Lucky for me I have MLX desi's in stock and it ought to impress the snot out of the customer to get genuine printed desi tabs. Besides, I just LOVE working at 1200 baud because I can nap between functions :)

You don't want SSA buttons 4 and 5, you want SSA buttons for 8 and 9.

If the "host" phone is x310, and the System Access buttons appear in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th and 9th position, then those are the cardinal numbers to reference on your Shared System Access Buttons.

Adding SSA for positions 4 and 5 won't give you squat. It surprises me that WinSPM and the switch allow you to do that.

Sorry. Day late and a dollar short. I paused while I was constructing my answer and see that Tom beat me to the punch.

Yeah, it dutifully took the programming because I think 4&5 were someone else's SSA buttons, like 340/01 and 340/02. The fun will begin Monday morning at 8:00 when the phones start to ring :)

Hey, if you run out of original desi's for the sets, I've setup a simple excel spreadsheet to print them on plain paper, and cut out with scissors (or a rotary paper trimmer). Use light grey paper, and they look great!
