Shared/Static Libraries - ASE 11.9.2

In my $SYBASE/lib directory, all the libraries have the .so file extension. Are these shared libraries? Does anyone know where I could get hold of the respective static libraries - I think they have the .a file extension.

Is this an installation option with sybase?
