Shared Sessions: Computer ID Display

I am finishing the integration of a AD domain, using a W2K3 server with some W2K clients, and some W98 clients. Using the Shared Folders Management snap-in for MMC, the W2K machine names keep coming up differently. Sometimes it comes up with the IP, sometimes with just the computer name, and sometimes with the full computername.domain name. Can anyone tell me what affects this and if I can excert any control over it?

Do all the 98 clients come up the same as well as the W2K?

The W98 clients come up with their computer names EVERYTIME.
