Hello,
Please can anyone offer any advice on the issue that I have.
I'm planning a Citrix farm but there is a mixture of printer connectivity on the network. I'm OK with the print servers but there are a few PC's that have printers attached and the printers are shared out. It is my understanding that due to bandwidth issues these sorts of printers should be avoided in a Citrix environment (I'd prefer never to have printers accessed in this manner, but it is out of my control). How can I stop any users from having these printers auto created in their Citrix session but allow for any locally attached (but not shared) printer to be used via Citrix.

Any other general printing advise would also be welcomed.

I'm going to assume that the users printing to the shared locally attached printers will also have a network printer available to print to on the print server.

If you make the network printer the default printer you have the option in Citrix to allow only the default printer to be autocreated. So if the network printer is set as the user's default printer only this printer will be autocreated and you won't have to worry about the locally attached printers.

In most of the environments I've worked in that have a lot of printers shared from user PC's, I haven't run into a bandwidth issue. It will really depend on your network and how and where the users are connecting from and what other network traffic is flying around in your environment. It may or may not be something you'll need to worry about.

For ATA: ahalecitrix
The citrix licenses where purchased over a year ago, the medium that I have only has metaframe, and I have a separate disk for Feature Release 1. I have just downloaded Feature Release 2 from the net.

many thanks
