Hi All

The sharing networked folders security and permissions is driving me up the wall.

I am trying to create two shared folders on Win2000. The first one, I want everyone to see on the network, the second I want to restrict by user or user group.

Even though this sounds straight forward, I cannot find the solution myself. Neither can I find an example or some suitable instructions.

Please help,

Nick

Hi there,

Sorry if I have missed something here but what problem are you experiencing when applying the permissions?

Russell.

For folder one just set the permissions on the security tab to everyone and give then what permissions you want them to have. Then for the second one set up a group in AD, add which users to the group are allowed to access this folder - then under the security tab for that folder set that group as the only ones who hav access to that folder. NB - Be careful of inherited permissions from the parent
