Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to easily share a folder. This is the issue that I frequently run into. We have multiple audits through out the year and most of the time our Controller needs to share information with these auditors. So what I’ve done in the past is to give them a user name/password with access to our common drive on our file server. It becomes somewhat of a hassle when the user does not know how to access a shared folder. Most of the time I just tell e-mail them a link, like \\servername\sharefolder and they can click that. I guess what I’m wondering is if there is an easier way to do this, maybe with SharePoint?

TIA,
Dan

Is this a domain? How about using a drive mapping via a logon script?

Thanks,
Andrew

No that's the problem. They are Auditors (See them 4 or 5 times a year) from the banks we deal with, using thier own notebooks attached to our LAN, so no they are not a member of the domain and joining them is not an option.

You could still map them a drive using a domain account.

See the net use command...

net use p: \\server\share /user:domain\username

You could append a password too, but this should prompt them for a password if you don't specify. You could create them domain accounts and put the net use command in a batch file on their desktop to map the drive.

Thanks,
Andrew

Thanks. I'm currently doing that now. Just looking for a way to simplify it for the user and myself.
