Hello everyone,

I have a shared directory on a Server2003 sp2 box. I created a shortcut for a user to access this shared directory from his winxp workstation. The shortcut is as follows... \\servername\share name\. At first this was working and the user was able to read/write within the share.

After the weekend, the user can only browse the share... cannot write to it anymore.

When the user enters a remote desktop session on the server the shared directory works as it should. Nothing changed over the weekend.

Any ideas? Let me know if you require more information. Thanks

A couple questions - some are simple, so please don't be offended...

* Is the WinXP workstation part of the domain on the Server 2003 box?
* Have you tried restarting the PC (told you this would be simple)?
* Is the user logging on to the WinXP PC as a member of the domain, or locally?
* How did you add permission to the folder? Did you add him/her explicitly, or as part of a security group, or some other config?
* Is the user's profile saved locally, or remotely? Have you attempted to rebuild the profile?

Let me know - thanks!
