i am using frontpage 2000 to manage a website

i have been utilizing the shared borders for ease in navigation and some type of unity in the pages...
and i have been trying to add a 'script' to handle switching the sponsor's banners inside of the top border...

i found a javascript that would do it
but to use it i had to put it on every page that i wanted the banner to go to the top of...

i thought that by going into the _borders folder in my ftp program and inserting the javascript into the top.htm file i would have solved this problem

although i could view the actual _borders/top.htm file and would see the script working.. it would not work work when i loaded pages utilizing the top.htm file...

another possibilty is creating an active server page that could be used for the top border... i have a asp page that controls the banner displays but am not aware ow to use this for the border page either...

i have designed a solution using frames but would much prefer using the top border in some way...

does anyone have a suggestion?

Just a thought, not really a solution but if you put your banner script in the border it is essentially only in one page. I think it might raise hell with the banner stats and rotation.

If the stats and rotation aren't bothered you can accomplish what you want to by doing a FrontPage "include page" just below (or above) your top border (command is somthing like Insert, FP Component, Include page) or by using SSI.

If you can put it in between something (like your top border...and something else that appears on every page after the top border) you could probably do it with a search and replace program instead of having to manually enter it on each page.

actually i have tried using the include file and for some reason have not been able to get it to work (yet)...

the banner stats are not really that important to me.. it is the rotation that was more important.. and it was/is handled on a 'random' basis using the time... and is called/recalled thru a text-delimited database...

thanks for your help...
