share a Mac & PC DSL ?

I’m trying to share a Mac 8500/120, running OS 8.5,on DSL line with a PC, using Netgear ethernet hub EN 104, PC is ok, but mac says DSL server not responding, after it “ looks for services”?

If the mac can connect without the PC, then the problem is that your ISP only allows one MAC address to access the Net, in which case you need a router, either hardware or software.

If the mac does not connect even when it is the only computer, then you need to do more setup with the ISP. I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

-But I plugged mac directly into the ethernet modem,by itself, & got this error “server is not responding”

where do u get software router?.

Sounds like something is not configured right on your MAC if the PC can connect.. Matt Wray
