Shape/Motion Tweens on Motion Guides??

Hi,

I'm attempting to move text movie clips on a curve utilizing the motion guide and am having no problems. However, I need the curve being used for the motion guide to also move, actually, tween between itself and a variation of itself.

Is this possible? I've tried it, but my guided clip seems to ignore the motion guide once I've applied a shape tween. Any options?

Thanks for any help.
