Currently using Citrix Metaframe XP on win2k box. Citrix works fine. I need to provide shadow functionality to specific users so that they can provide training. I have created a Custom based user in Metaframe XP Administrator which allows only :- Logon to Management console, view server information and view session management. Created a new policy and assigned users with permissions & allow shadowing. Assign the relevant users to shadow.

Process only works if user is member of local power user group. Is there any way i can provide specific file/folders permissions to this user or is there another procedure.

What happens if the user is not elevated, i.e. error message the the CMC won't launch, or error message that the user has insufficient permissions?

Regmon & filemon from sysinternals.com are good tools to troubleshoot such problems.

Do the users have write permissions to:

\Program Files\Citrix\Administration\isctx.log

i have tested with user only in domain user, once i click on shadowtaskbar, nothing happens no error message. i have assigned write permisions to log file stated above and cannot find any chnages. Is this log file a track of any errors relating to logging?

Not sure, I only know that if you try to publish ctxload.exe w/o specifying the path, it errors stating that this file can't be located.

I'd check Regmon & Filemon to see what happens when a non-elevated user trys this, to see if there are registry keys or files to which the user needs access.

Regmon & Filemon are the standard tools for troubleshooting permission problems on TS & Citrix. Checkout the following video by Dr. Rick Mack from 2006 BriForum which shows what they can do, amongh other things:
