Hi,

I am very new to Linux, so this might be a very obvious question.

When interpreting a Shadow file from a linux server, what does a value of ":!!:" means for a password...........does this meant that the account is disabled also ? or is it a value specific to services ?

e.g
rpm:!!:11938:0:99999:7:::

Thanks

That means that there's no password and you can't logon with that user account (normally) ...
