for a lun that is used purely for user data - ie niff naff word , excel the usual shared crap - how much space would you allow for shadow copies

lun's will be in 1 terrabyte chunks

the shadow copies will be on a seperate lun

Depends on how much data you're snapshotting, and how far back you want to go. I know of one company that does 4 snapshots a day, each over 35GB. And they maintain about 2 weeks worth of snapshots.

Excuse me if I am way off but isnt there a 1/3rd minimum size limit so if you had a 1TB section that you will be using shadow copies on, you would need a minimum of 333gb of space dedicated to shadow copies even if the data you ended up with was only say 200gb... Thanks.
