Shadow Copies Oddity

Hey all,

We have shadow copies enabled on our two of our servers. On one, today, I went to a file, and was able to restore it using the previous versions tab in the file's properties. My manager went to a file stored on the other server, and tried the same thing. There was no file there. However, if he went to the folder containing the file, and hit the view button on the previous versions tab, he was able to copy the file from the resulting Explorer window. We would like to get the file level previous versions interface working on that server.

I know the file had been changed since the last shadow copy (which was why we wanted the older one, the user messed up and needed to be saved), so it's not the case of a static file that hasn't been copied for a while. Any ideas on this anyone?

Thanks,

For each user accessing the file, state the OS, tool used, and process steps.

xmsre - The OS is Windows XP Pro SP2. Right clicking on the file/folder and going to the "Previous Versions" tab.

Technome - Thanks for the advice. Not sure how that helps with our shadow copy problem...
