Hello,

I just brought home a SGI O2 system. It was working ok, until I began to play with the monitor display settings. The monitor I have, usually can handle many resolutions at different refresh rates. But when I put 1280x1024 at 96Hz,
it didn't worked, and the monitor always says "Out of Range".

Until now, I can only access the menu of system manteinance.

I already have tried to do a single boot at the command monitor, for running a /usr/gfx/setmon 1280x1024_60 command. But when I do the "single" boot, it inmediately tries to change the display resolution and after that I can not see waht is happening.

And the worst thing of all is that it is not connected to a network (nor configurated for it), so I can forget of doing any kind of telnet. :-(

Any suggestions??

Many thanks,

Eduardo

The best way to come out of this situation is, go to prom monitor by pressing esc key when the system shows the initial screen. Type single at >>> prompt.
Once you enter into single user mode, goto /usr/gfx/ucode/CRM/vof or /usr/gfx/ucode/CRIME/vof.
Copy the file 1024x768_60 to 1280x1024_96.

OR

go to /etc/rc2.d

vi S99setmonx

/usr/gfx/setmon -n 1024x768_60.

write and close.

Reboot.
