I have a SGI system access via NIS . When users try to login the system from console or remotely it take a very long time to get a login session. Once the user has establish his/her login, when tring to open an xterm or any other task it will take 5 or more minutes before the system will response. I feel that I have check everything from network files to nfs and nsd daemons. What could be the problem?

Hey,

If your network is connected via hubs or switches you could check out the speed offwich they are connected. If it is autosensing there could be a problem. Try to set a standard speed on all devices. e.a. switch port 100mb/sec, SGI 100mb/sec and so on.

This might work......
