hi all,

it's ok to use ftp to transfer file between winXP and UNIX(i use AIX 6000). however, when I use sftp to transfer file, it said" network error: connection refused".

how can i set in UNIX to make sftp working normally?

thanks,

To make sftp to function, you need to install ssh!

Now this should be easy thing to do among Unix machines. It's a bit tricky to use sftp between Windows and Unix

You need to install a ssh software on windows as well if you want to sftp from Unix to windows!

Try looking into cygwin for more info:

thank you for your reply.

you mean that I just download this software and install in windows to use sftp function. I don't need to do/install anything in UNIX??

thanks.

hi mk001,

on Windows you can use PUTTY as ssh for terminal emulation(a sort of telnet on port 22 instead 23),
and WinSCP to have a visual FTP always working on port 22.

On AIX you must activate ssh protocol: you have to install additional SW, that you find on AIX CD (or Linux embedded CDs). For AIX 4, seems there was not on CDs, you need to unload from alternative sites (ucla...).

SSH stays for Secure SHell (maby you find it under this label).

ciao
