SFC /Scannow error

Trying to get sfc /scannow to run, get following error:
Windows File Protection could not initate a scan of protected system files. The specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable]

Any ideas?

run services.msc and try to start the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service.

Wooluf - I am having the same issue and followed your recommendation (services..msc) and it indicates that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) is started. I am not able to stop/start it again as the options are not available (grayed out) - do you have any other ideas? Thanks
