I have a couple of questions about Macola.

1. Does anybody know how many Macola users (companies) are out there using Macola?

2. If you delete an item form the Iventory, because it is no longer in use does the history get deleted as well or is it maintained in the history files?

3. If you are not using Macola to give advice about ordering, has anybody created a good Crystal report that does a good job at order advice?

1) Somewhere around 15,000 companies is what I have been told. This is probably not all active users, but companies that have owned and used Macola at one time.

2) History file are not automatically deleted upon the deletion of the item.

3) Have you tried the reorder advice report in Macola? If so what is wrong with it?

1) There are fewer companies than the 15-20k or so that was reported in the version 6 DOS days, though many of them still use the DOS or have migrated to Elliott. Version 7 installs were fewer than v6, but the sites were generally more sophisticated with larger user counts. There are a number of 100+ user sites for progression.

2) Procedurally, you need to determine which history you choose to retain when deleting master records. There are a number of history files that pertain to items that can be deleted or not. In addition, other master file records may prevent deleting item master records such as bin records, serial/lots, item vendor master, customer item master, etc.

3) Macola has everything you need to generate intelligent reordering information, but you must give it the parameters in the item master and item location files as well as create and/or forecast demand accurately in your customer, production & shop orders.
