Hi.

I have a few users who have several email domain addresses such as User1@blue.com, User1@green.com, and User1@brown.com.

All these email domains are managed by the same mail server,
Exchange 2k3 Enterprise.

User1@brown.com is the primary email address. Email destined for all these email accounts (User1@blue.com, User1@green.com, and User1@brown.com) will be received in this email box.

How do I configure Outlook 2k3, so the receiving party sees
email coming from either User1@blue.com or User1@green.com or User1@brown.com as specified by the sender?

When I try to use the Outlook "From" option, the email is always sent from User1@brown.com (It seem that Outlook checks the sending email address with the Global Address Book and changes the sending email to the primary email address)

Thanks very much for the solution.

You mean how do you do it other than all the ways descibed in Google search results?

Third party products or multiple accounts.

Hi. Thanks for your answer. I see there is probably now way to set this up in Exchange without using another AD/email account
and forward, etc. or a third party tool.

This can easily be done. You need to set up IMAP connections for each of the NON-Default addresses. You will then have a new button in Outlook next to send that will let you pick the account to send from.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Thanks Mark. That sounds interesting. I'll do research to find out how this would work but please drop me a web link if you had any. Our communication environment is rather complex, so I have to thoroughly investigate this option.

?

What do you need to investigate? I don't follow you.

An IMAP connection is a native setup for Exchange. Just go into OUtlook, add new account. Choose IMAP. Input info for your server and the ID you want to connect to. IMAP is similar to POP except IMAP leaves mail on the server, so unlike POP that would mess with the info store, IMAP will not.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Thank you for your response Mark.

We have IMAP4 disabled, so I will have to start with starting the IMAP4 virtual server I believe.

My major concern was Interactive Intelligence Communite voicemail plug-in we use in Outlook to control the telephony system's user voicemail box settings. It will be great if it works even the IMAP connections.

Another thing to think about: These users have their PDAs and Blackberries.

Also how would RPC over HTPPs work with IMAP accounts. Maybe configure a secure IMAP thru the firewall, etc.

Plenty of fun. Thanks again. I will think about the setup.

the IMAP connections can work over a standard Internet connection so should not be a factor.

I hope you find this post helpful.

You can also create a new account and mailbox, with new e-mail address. Set this to forward onto the Default account (don't tick to deliver to both accounts), and then users can then pick the From field, and choose the additional mailbox.

You can also create a new account and mailbox

That requires using an extra user CAL so I would say it is not the way to go. Having the multiple addresses associated witht he single accoutn is really the best solution. Using the IMAP connection you are not duplicating or forwarding any mail or creating extra users.

I hope you find this post helpful.

The extra CAL is not desired, indeed. The question is how this plays with laptops configured for RPC over HTTPs.

If I understand it correctly, there must be additional secure IMAP connection in these laptop Outlooks.

We also use the ActiveSync feature for PDAs. If this is an IMAP connection, there probably must be 2 accounts configured on these PDAs: Exchange ActiveSync email and a secure IMAP connection.

Thanks for the answers & ideas.
