Using VFP 5.0 I've created setup disks via the setup wizard. The install works on my machine but my user gets an error something like "Can't open setup.ini". Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Jim

Hi Jim,

Because you stated that you created "setup disks", I will presume you created setup images for 3.5 inch floppies(Step 3, I think).

Did you copy ALL the files from MyDistribDir\Disk1 to one floppy, all the files from MyDistribDir\Disk2 to another floppy, etc?

On your disk1, is there a file named setup.inf? VFP needs this to determine precisely what and how to install your application.

Refer to "Setup Wizard" in the VFP help file or Chapter 26, Creating Distribution Disks, in the VFP Programmer's Guide for more info on the distribution process. Jon Hawkins

If you haven't updated the Setup Wizard, go to - ther are links for both VFP 5 & 6 updates. I believe there were circumstances where the original Wizard would create a Disk1 image that was actually too large to actually fit on the floppy. (Also make sure your floppy has no bad areas, making less useable space.)
