Setup weeks from datestrings in database

Hi! My application is supposed to take a weeknumber, like this week is 17, and from my database get those dates that represents this week(number) and for instans 8 weeks forward or backwards. The database date´s format is yyyy mm dd. I need this to function for years ahead.
Hope someone got an idea that can help me. I´m using VB.
