Hi,

I know this might be a shot in a dark but i thought maybe one of you can guide me in a right direction......
Just installed SQL Server 2005 (on my laptop) on XP PRO SP2,,,
1. Wanted to start testing it out...downloaded some sample data bases, Opened Microsoft visual Studio ,,,opened a sample package and tried to deploy it
got an error of course, saying
-------A connection could not be made to the report server I got a web server too (Abyss, not configured)....
Please if possible tell me what should i do in order configure SQL Server, do i have to set my web server?? If yes, what should I do?

Thank-you very much……..

SSRS will only run on IIS from my knowledge. Do you have it installed? if not it is fairly easy. Throw your WinXP Pro disc in and go to control panel --> add windows components and select IIS in the list.

oncve that is done you will need to configure SSRS (provided you installed SSRS ;-)). Go tot he configuration utility in the Start --> All Programs --> SQL Server 2005 --> Reporting Services configuration (words may not be exact but close)

I recommend at first just initializing it all by the defaults. this will just get you going so you can play with it.

Side note: SQL Server 2005 by default has EVERYTHING disabled. Use surface configuration to enable things you may want. Mainly I'm thinking remote connections :)
