Setup programs giving system error AutoEXEC.NT

C:\winnt=system32\AutoEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

I'm not sure what i'm missing. I have Windows 2000 Professional. The cd was working fine the other day. What do i have to do ?
