setup of sendmail

I've just installed Suse 9.0 and am having trouble getting sendmail accept incomings connections. This is what ps ax prints out.

826 ? S 0:00 sendmail: Queue control
827 ? S 0:00 sendmail: running queue: /var/spool/clientmqueue

I don't know how to start the smtp server. imap is running and works. I have a feeling the sendmail install screwed up somehow.

Anyone know of any good sites that have a good guide to setup and running sendmail.

How about starting at sendmail.org and going on from there? sendmail systems can be simple or amazingly complex. that's why i have a paper_LART with the name of said unix application on my desk all the time.
