Hi Guys,

I am starting my CCNA and want to access my home lab whilst away.

Setup comprises of:

1 x AS2511-RJ remote access server
2 x 2610XM IOS 12.4
2 x 2620XM IOS 12.4 (one is my frame relay switch)
2 x Catalyst 2950 24's

My DSL router is a D-Link DSL-2740B.

I would like to know, how do I physically connect DSL router to AS ..... Aux port ????

where would I find the IP address i would need to use when away to access it all ?

Is it a case of just setting up static IP's and port forwarding to Port 23 on the AS from D-link ?

Sorry for the dumb questions but I am a keen beginner !

Thanks for your time.

Chris.

IP to connect to: your DSL external IP.
suggestion : get a no-ip.org account and install the client on of your PC's it will take care of updating your IP whenever your router changes as you most likely dont have a static ip ...

Connection wise:
forward the DSL router's port to whichever Router / server you want to use as the initial point of contact.
I have a 2651xm running SSH accepting connection from outside world. from there I can connect to anything within my network. My advice would be to have the incoming connection to the router / server closest to your DSL router. This way if you frack up the ip routing and such you still have access to your switches from outside world.

if you are doing this from work or are planning to do it from work, check and see if they block port 22. Then you'll have to do some creative thinking, I have port 23 enabled for my SSH due to restrictions at work...

We must go always forward, not backward
always up, not down and always twirling twirling towards infinity.
