Greetings folks,

I'm having some difficulty with setting up an Avaya Partner ACS 7.0 phone system. Phone systems are not my area of expertise, but I'm not afraid of technology, so I'm thinking I should be able to handle this.

My current problems are as follows:

The Avaya system I have has a PC Card (Partner Voice Messaging PC Card Large) and when I insert it into the ACS 7 main processor module it always answers on the first right. I THOUGHT I set it up to answer on the 9th ring, but it is definitely picking up instantly. I want the operator phone to ring until they answer or the 9th ring, which ever comes first.

Next problem: Whenever I try to record an ASA message, I try pressing the intercom button, followed by 891. However, any time I try to enter more than two digits, I get a rapid busy signal.

Similarly, I THINK I have assigned mailboxes to my extensions and why I pick up the extensions, and try, I think it was #777 to reach voicemail, I also get the rapid busy after the second digit it dialed.

Brief overview of what I have:
ACS 7.0 (new)
206E (used)
Afore mentioned Voice Mail PC Card (used)
10xMLS-6 phones
2xMLS-12D phones (one of Ext. 10 and one on Ext. 11).
Appropriate cables to program through computer
6 POTS lines, 12 Extensions, 16 Voicemail extensions (I THINK).

I know it's the holiday weekend, but I'm hoping to get some help on this soon - kinda needs to be running by Tuesday morning.

Thanks much folks!

Ok, I've been reading a few more posts and I think I MIGHT have a clue what's going on. Probably something to do with assigning voicemail ports and extensions. CURRENTLY I have both assigned to Hunt group 7. But I can't quite figure out which extensions should be which.

My config is this:
5 Slot case
Left Most Slot: 206
Center Slot ACS 7
All other slots EMPTY
PC CARD for Voice mail as detailed above - installed in PCCARD slot 1.

When I dial 0 from the phone I've designated as "19" (top most RJ45 on 206 extensions part), the display reads "VMS"

But I've programmed it to read a name (that name is not showing up.

When I dial 19 from another phone the extension I THOUGHT was 19 DOES ring... how should it ring if it's voicemail? This is confusing.

When I dial from the RJ45 I THOUGHT would be 20, it shows up on the 12D at ext 11 as "20", not VMS. So it would seem I only have ONE voicemail port.

By the way, I don't have any other lines/extensions setup in a hunt group.

Default it and start over. Assign Ext 78 & 79 to hunt group 7. The jacks on the ACS are clearly marked, the 206 has lines 6&7 at the top, and extensions 19 through 24. then go back and program the lines and extensions.

Trying that right now. To be clear, I have a 206E 4.1 and (I don't know if this gives you any useful info), but there are two stickers on the back - one that says "DM34967" and the other that says "700226525 CWD4B

Hi lwcomputing,
The information TouchToneTommy has given you is correct. Go with it. Assign the lines (#206) to hunt group 7. Set the delay as you have before and the schedual for night, day or both. The night delay can be set for faster pickup.

Sounds like you bought it off Ebay. Replace the MLS phones when you can as they are prone to failure.

Greetings folks,

Progress has been made thanks to TouchToneTommy. The system now waits the desired number of rings before the auto attendant picks up. And voice mail on 3 different extensions is working as desired. However, i have two further issues:

1. Voicemail on Extension 19 does not seem to work.
2. I can't change the auto-attendant outgoing message - I believe I should be able to by pressing (from ext 10) [intercom][8][9][1]

Further assitance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks much!

Intercom 891 is the ASA message, which you don't have unless you have an ASA/DXD card - AND, it isn't the auto atendant greeting.

Log into mailbox 0, press 3 for the Auto Attendant Greeting, and then 1 to record.

Hi lwcomputing,
You need to assign mailboxes to the extension. This is unlike the larger mail products where there is a one to one relationship. You will create a "translation" between the mailbox number (1-4 for a small, 1-16 max for the large) and the extension number.
Defaulted, the mailbox assigns 1 to 10, 2 to 11, 3 to 12 and so on. If you have not got a mail that has been defaulted you will have to get in and find where each mailbox has been assigned. That or default it yourself.
Make sure you have #310 in the ACS programming set to "1" for ext 19 as well.
