To provide Ip access to your VM system R1
You will need PARTNER Messaging Release 1.0 software

module if you want to change the default IP address of the PARTNER
Messaging module.
follow the steps below To connect the PARTNER Messaging system to the LAN:

cable is connected, and then click the OK button. The COM Properties
dialog box appears.

connector (labeled “LAN Port”) on the PARTNER Messaging module.
25 Disconnect the RS-232 serial cable from the PARTNER Messaging module.

To connect to the PARTNER Messaging system from your company’s LAN, the
PARTNER Messaging system must be connected to the LAN. To connect the
PARTNER Messaging system to the LAN, you will need:
• a 10 Base-T cable with an RJ-45 connector that is connected to your
company’s LAN
• an available IP address on your company’s LAN that you will assign to the
PARTNER Messaging module
• a subnet mask address on your company’s LAN that you will assign to the
PARTNER Messaging module
• a default gateway address on your company’s LAN that you will assign to
the PARTNER Messaging module

To connect the PC running PARTNER Messaging Release 1.0 System
Administration directly to the PARTNER Messaging system, you will need:
• the 10 Base-T crossover cable with RJ-45 connector to connect the PC
running PARTNER Messaging Release 1.0 System Administration to the
PARTNER Messaging module.
• the IP addresses of the PARTNER Messaging module and the PC running
PARTNER Messaging Release 1.0 System Administration to be in the
same IP domain. You can either change the default IP address of the
PARTNER Messaging module to be in the same IP domain as the PC, or
change the IP address of the PC to be in the same IP domain as the
PARTNER Messaging module.

I would also add that if you do not have a 355A adapter to connect to the serial port to set the IP address, and don't want to purchase one just for this task, modem into the Auto Attendant, and dial "**3" at the AA prompt. This will transfer you to the internal modem; hit return and proceed as if connected direct.

Thank you so much jwynn!

I was going crazy trying to remember the login user name for Messaging R1 administration.

Your post has saved me a lot of time.

Thank you to tek-tips for their great forums!
