All,

I've tried to install the antivirus server via the symantec system console (tools;server roll-out). All the files are copied but the new server doesn't send status "finished". The norton server service is also not installed. Has anybody seen this problem already?

I've found that if you already have the Norton (Symantec) clients installed (non-managed), the "roll-out" push feature that comes with the SSC is not that reliable and is pretty "Ify". I had a 50% success ratio the first roll-out and then I ended up doing most of them manually after a second roll-out only gave me another 10-15%. One thing, many systems need to be rebooted to show up on the server, even if the installation doesn't need it to work originally.

Indeed rebooting the server helps sometimes but it didn't help this time. The problem was that the Norton service account didn't have any access to the <OS drive>:\Winnt\Installer. I've corrected this and then it was OK.
