Hi

I'm upgrading our NT4 PDC server to 2000, this will also be our first DNS server to. When I setup up the namespace for DNS do I need to use the name (this is an example name) corp.ourcompanyname.com as we already have ourcompanyname.com registered on the internet and our website is host by a third party. Or can I still use the namespace ourcompanyname.com ??

Thanks
Sean

I have done this recently and used the same name space as we have registered with our Website and not had any problems so far and our website is hosted a by a third party

Have a look also on almondeyes.net site on the article about internal DNS and external DNS.

The only time you may have problems is if your web site uses the same secondary and tld names. The you may need to create an 'A' record in your DNS associating the correct ip with the web site.
