I have a Compaq Deskpro XL 590 that I want to set the parallel port to bidirectional. I no longer have any of the Doc for possible board switches and there doesn't seem to be any options in the bios setup.

Any help??

Thanks!

Compaq bios setup is a little different from most. Usually the bios just has a setting for the parallel port address. If it is just 378 irq7 or 278 irq5, then it is in standard mode. If the address has additional information like DMA address and additional I/O address, it is in an advanced mode like ECP. ECP is bidirectional, and the best mode for newer printers and scanners. Unfortuanatly, it never actually tells you the mode. Hope this helps!
