I have a Norstar Modular ICS system installed. I would like to know if there was any way you can have a phone, using DID, bypass the night service feature. If so, what are the steps?
Under the headings 'Services' -show- 'Common Settings' -show- 'Control sets' --- change the control set for each DID trunk and all target lines to 'none'. By default these are set to port 101's DN - usually 221.
The following settings will enable the attendant (receptionist) to answer all calls during the day, these calls will ring at this station until answered. At night the attendant will press the NIGHT SVC button and the AA will then answer the lines.
ENTER THE TELEPHONE SYSTEM PROGRAMMING
Note: All incoming lines should appear and ring at the attendant station.
TERMINALS & SETS
Select NEXT to SERVICES, show, RINGING SERVICES, show, RINGING GROUP, show. Enter 01 for the Ringing Group. Press SHOW. At the SHOW SET prompt select SCAN. If any extension such as default 221 is ASSIGNED you must UNASSIGN it. Then Press FIND. At the SHOW SET prompt enter the first station port of the voicemail. Do not assign any other ports, just the first port. This can be found by enter FEATURE 985 which displays the first voicemail port.
Go back to RINGING GROUP and NEXT to SCHEDULE: NIGHT, and select SHOW.
Service should be set to MANUAL (The default is OFF). Then press NEXT to TRUNK ANSWER makes sure it is set to YES.
Then select HEADING and return to SERVICES and SHOW. Press NEXT to COMMON SETTINGS, press SHOW. At the prompt CONTROL SET, select SHOW. Make sure that the Control Set for each line is set to the extension you want to have the night button.
Then go to the control extension. Press FEATURE * 3, press an available button, dial the night service FEATURE 871.
FLASH PROGRAMMING
Note: the greetings should be recorded and assigned to the table as you wish.
Feature 983 and log in. Go to AA then LINES. SHOW the line 001. Then press TABLE, then RINGS. Make sure each line is set to 0 rings.
Then go into Feature 982 and log in using OPERATOR as the password. ATTENDANT AVAILABLE: Y, BUSINESS OPEN: Y, ANSWER LINES: N, ATDT (none), change this to the attendant extension.
If you would like the Auto Attendant to pick up unanswered lines during the day you will need to set the DRT (delayed ring transfer) TO PRIME to YES and the PRIME SET to the first port of the voice mail as per the following instructions.
TELEPHONE SYSTEM PROGRAMMING
FEATURE **266344
Password = 266344
TERMINALS & SETS
NEXT to SYSTEM PROGRAMMING, SHOW. Press NEXT to FEATURE SETTINGS, SHOW. Then press NEXT to DRT to PRIME. Set to (Y)es. Press NEXT and set the DRT Ring Delay.
Use your header button to back up to TERMINALS & SETS. Press NEXT to LINES, SHOW. Show line 001. TRUNK LINE DATA, SHOW. Press NEXT to PRIMESET: 221. Change the PRIMESET to be the first port of the voice mail. You will need to change the PRIMESET on each of the lines individually.
Now outside calls will ring the attendantÂ’s phone. In the event that the attendant cannot pick up the call within the ring parameter set in DRT to prime, the AA will then answer the call. At night when the attendant leaves, they will press the previously programmed Night Service button and the lines will be answered immediately by the automated attendant.
What I really need to know is how can I have one or two specific extensions excluded from the night service and auto attendant? I tried feature 982 and it seems to be affecting the entire group. I'm a new to the game and a little lost. Help!
imsolost,
what is happening to you is that when your system is set into night mode each line looks at programming under services->common settings->Control sets->for lines-> to see if the control set that sets night mode controls its line. DID calls are routed thru lines (target lines, 145 and up) What you will need to do is find out what target lines are associated with the did numbers that you are trying to have bypass the night mode answer. when you know which target lines they are then go to config programming services->common settings->Control sets->for lines-> for the line and set it to none as lowradiation stated above. this will stop your control phone from controlling these target lines and allow them to ring extensions the way they are supposed to.
NOTE: since DID numbers are specific to a particular extension or application they should not be controlled by night mode. JerryReeve

An easy way to find a target line is to go to the extension, press feature *0 (button inquiry) then press the intercom button (it will first show the extension ) then press # or NEXT on the softkey until it shows the target line assigned.
