Hi All,

I need help ! How do I set up a user in Linux without a password. In Unix the utility will allow me to setupt a user without a password, but the redhat(6.0) Linuxconf forces me to setup a password.

I tried manually change it by elimination the password in the /etc/passwd file :
vi /etc/passwd

but this does not help. It still asks for the password when I log in.

I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks

Suhale

It's been a while since I stumbled upon this, but I think I found something under linuxconf(?) in RH 7.1 to allow a user to login without a password... Might not be there in 6.2. I'm not sure what it does to config files; I just thought it looked like something my wife would appreciate, since she's not used to being required to log in to a computer at home... :)

She still hasn't logged in, but the function worked when I tested it with her username.

start userconf
there is a button in GUI ver named policies
