hi,
i've just bought a used 3c8842a (idsn router) without cable, software and documentation.
Can somebody help me setting up this black box!

I've tried it with the Console port (with a null modem cable): no success
Tried it with the windows Hyperterminal, but no communication!

I've tried it with the TP port (lan): no success
I've connected a pc with DHCP activated to the router but do not get any IP.

The LEDs on the fron panel seem to be ok. When plugging in a Lan cable the network is 'recognised'!

Thanks for any idea or suggestion

cheers

stef

Here is a link to the documentation for the Discontinued NetBuilder routers.

As far as I can remember you need a Null-Modem cable between your PC and the Serial port on the router. Set it to 9600, 8 Data Bits, 1 Stop Bit and no parity (can't remember whether the flow control was hardware or software but try both?). You should get a prompt from the router by pressing return, but it has been ages since I have worked on these.
