I'm setting up IP phones on my BCM this week. Testing the first one. So far I've gotten the phone connected to the system, I can make and receive local DN calls within the office.

I can place an outbound SIP trunk call to a DN at one of our other locations, and the recipient can hear me just fine. But they cannot call my new extension back.

I have checked the routing table at the destination store to ensure that I have an entry for the first few digits of the new DN created by the IP phone, can I copied the routing settings to match other entries.

My home store (where the IP phone is hooked up) uses 4 digit extensions, 22xx.
The remote store uses 4 digit extensions, 24xx.
The IP phone's new extension is 2601.

When a user at the remote store dials 2601, they get a fast busy signal and the call does not connect. However from my direction, the calls go through.

Several months ago, I created a hunt group at the home store, extension 2761. I followed the same procedure - edit the routing table to include an entry for '27' and the calls went through. Now for some reason that's not working.

Any ideas? I'm guessing this has something to do with target lines, perhaps?

have you created a target line for each set with received number the number of the set?
question what do you mean you can place an outbound SIP trunk call to a DN at one of our other locations? do you have 2 bcm systems connected with SIP trunks? Or it is just a single system with remote IP SETS?

I actually have 3 BCM systems all connected with SIP trunks via VPNs. Communication between my home store and one of the sites is working. The other site is not.

I forgot there were two steps needed:

1. Resources> Telephony Resources> IP Trunks > Routing Table > Add... --- that gets me pointing outbound calls to the home store
2. Telephony> Dialing Plan> Routing > Destination Codes > Add... --- that allows me to enter a new code starting with '26' which allows me to indicate I want the system to try Route '001' which is my private network.

The problem I'm having is this: the store that is not working will not allow me to enter a line in the Dialing Plan Destination Codes starting with a '26' because there are already local DN extensions set up in that range in the destination BCM-50. The DN's are set aside for IP Sets. How can I change that?

You will have to renumber the local DN's so that there are no conflicts.

In multi-site a dialing plan is essential so that no conflicts occur.

I took the easy way out - I renumbered the extension of my IP phone into the '22xx' range of my home store. Done deal!

Fun fact - In Element Manager, you can simply double click on a DN and type in a new DN. So simple, yet I never knew it. Thought someone else might like to know that if they see this thread in the future. (thanks to Telcodog)

Thanks folks!
