I have added a laptop to an established wireless network. The laptop uses a Linksys adaptor. When the computer is started it won't find the network until I open the network connection properties and check the box next to "use windows to configure my wireless network settings". Then the computer connects to the network just fine.

Problem is, when I turn off the computer and restart it I must go into the properties and again check that box, every time.

Does anyone have an idea why this check box is not remaining checked??

Thanks,

Jim Clark

Check the startup status of the Wireless Zero Configuration service. It should be set to Automatic.

I checked and Wireless Zero Configuration is set to automatic, so that's not the problem.

Any other thoughts?

The likely problem is that you installed the full Linksys client suite. The older version will stop the Wireless Zero service. When you check the box, you are issuing a Start to the service.

. Download a newer driver set. You did not mention the specific adapter, but see:
. Uninstall the existing adapter

. Or, do neither of the above and use the online service Easy Connect for adapter updates:

Thanks for posting that.. I recently asked the same question as my Wireless Zero Service would not start each time I restarted my computer unless I did it manually. Hopefully when I get home and test out this new update from Linksys, the problem will go away. Thanks again for the post!
