I'm running Lotus Notes 6.5.4 here and I've noticed there are two or three workstations that are much slower than the other PCs when both first connecting to the Domino server and also when bringing up email messages. All of the other machines take about three seconds from when you hit the 'Mail' button to when you can be actively browsing through your inbox while these ones take up to 25 seconds.

Are there some specific settings I should be looking at on these machines to speed them up? They're all running Windows XP SP2 with all the latest MS updates.

Thanks in advance.

3 things to check first:

- Network settings, make sure there is only one protocol in use. If both TCP/IP and NetBIOS are in use, there will be a performance issue both for workstations AND server

- Disable any unneeded network protocols on the server. If possible, run one protocol only

- Size of the mailboxes. If big everything will eventually slow down. If so, suggest to enable server based archiving. Consider to delete the local cache file too.

- Actual network routing (if TCP/IP). Run a tracert to see where the traffic actually goes. Compare with one that works normal...
