Hey,
I have a DSL [dynamic IP] connection at home with a 4 pot router, but will like to set up a LAN so that the other computers will log into the Window 2000 server. I want the other 3~4 computers to login server [ie with Domain Name as Marty]. How can I be able to do that.
Thanks

Hmmmmm on the server, configure it as a domain controller
(Use the 'configure your server' option in the start>programs>administrative tools menu)

then, if you get thru that, go to the computer, go into the network & dial up options, click the 'network identification' link on the left, (2000 pro) and tell it to join your new domain. It'll ask you for a password with administrator privelidge to add the computer to the domain.
Note: this password is the one you set up on the SERVER.

All being well, you should be able to join the computer to the domain

One thing..... I found win2k server not to be the best things for small networks, if you havn't used it before, you'll find that it throws so many new things into the equation that small problems become harder to fix unless you know how it all interacts... I'm self taught on Win2k server, and 3 months down the line, I'm still stumped on a few things. Unless you have a need for power or server options, I prefer to use a workgroup..

Hope this helps anyway.
