Desktop is XP Pro(sp1), laptop is Win98se, router is Linksys VPN BEFVP41 (70 simultaneous channel router). ISP is vzavenue, unfortunately, and running DHCP, not PPPoE.
VPN router is connected directly to a Linksys wireless G router for access to my laptop, but the VPN router is giving out the addresses to my desktop and laptop. Linksys Wireless G is just an Access Point obviously to my laptop.
Question:
I don't know how to set up VPN and have never done so. I don't know if there is something built in to windows both XP and 98se where I can do this "software", or what software I'll need along with already having the VPN specified router. What ports will I need to open and how specific of a configuration on the VPN router will I need to have.
From the Setup screen on my vpn router it asks for answers/selections to entries such as:
Local Secure Group: Options are Ip Address, Subnet, or IP Range.
Remote Secure Group: Options are IP Addr, SubNet, Ip Range, Host, Any
Remote Security Gtwy: Options are Ip Addr, FQDN, Any
Encryption: DES, 3DES, or disable
Authentication: MD5, SHA, or disable
Key Management: Options are Auto (IKE), or Manual
PFS: Check box for Perfect Forward Security
Pre-Shared Key:
Key Lifetime: Option in Sec's (default shows 3600 secs)
I can provide more info upon request, this was what I could currently write to best describe my problem. I really want to do VPN and gain the knowledge, but need a push and some assistance getting the configuration set up correctly on my BEFVP41 router.
Thanks so much for your time!
