I am looking for information on how to setup a VPN client for my DLink DI-714P+ on Windows 2000 SP4. According to the router spec this should be doable but I have never been able to do it successfully in the past. I have already setup my router for port forwarding following the instructions on this website. I am knowledgable on using Windows software, since I am a programmer, but not on all the terminology of router hardware or VPN.
I need a VPN server to test against and I need instructions on how to setup my router and Windows 2000 Pro to connect to that VPN server. Once I can do that I should be able to connect to any VPN server once I am given the correct address, username, and password.
Attempting to talk to DLink tech support is hopeless since it is all in India and the DLink tech support people there no nothing whatsoever and are completely hopeless. I already know this and have been around the block with those people and do not relish having to deal with them again ever.
Hopefully someone here can tell me how to do it, or point me someplace where I am told how to do it. Since I will be telecommunicating from home on a new job I really need to get this going, or buy another router from a company who can give me clear and concise answers on how to do it.
Thank You !
