Hello,

I have a PIX515E installed and working on a network in our office and now we want to connect up a PIX501 in a remote site and connect to it using a VPN between the PIX'es.

We are using a 192.168.1.x internal network in our office and are planning to use 192.168.10.x for the remote site. Can anyone offer some advice on the best way to configure this solution?

Both sites are using 512kb DSL and I have Internet "legal" / registered IP addresses I can use for the PIX'es at each location.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Peter.

HI.

What pix and pdm versions are in use?

For newer devices (OS 6.2x and PDM 2.x), you can use PDM for the VPN configuration.
For older version (and for version 6.2x as well) you can use PIXCRIPT from here to help you with the task:

You can also find here some links to help you:

In any case, after the VPN is up, you might need to play with MTU settings on the workstations or server that will need to communicate throught the VPN.
A Simple test with "ping -f -l ..." will give you a hint if you need to do anything or not.

Bye
