why do you want to install the aix documentation while its every where on the net!?

I'm sorry, but this is not the question, is it? The thread is for off-line browsing ...

Hi DukeSSD,

this would be my solution, if the Websphere Help system would not work. I am afraid, that nearly no one has made this thing work so far...

Do you not have the Documentation CD?

If so just stick it in a windows machine and it installs.

Nope, not true. The documentation CD AIX 5.3 (LCD4-7471, LCD4-7508-00) has definitely just AIX installation routines as said in the README.<lang>.htm

I've just tested it again, it does not work for Windows....

I have just tried the and a previous 5.2 Doc CD both contain a windows install routine and install ok ( after a long delay ) All other language files mention windows.

I'm using

AIX 5L V5.3
Documentation CD
5765-G03
Volume 1 of 2

LCD4_7508_01

It has the following files

setup - jar file
setuplinux - bin file
setupwin32 - app

Readme file states

The AIX Information Center can be installed to run on a Windows system.
Put the AIX Information Center CD1 into the CD drive. It may take several minutes for the InstallShield wizard to display. Once it does, step through the panels to install. Once the install is complete, you can start the information center by selecting Programs -> AIX Information Center -> AIX Information Center Start. To stop the information center select Programs -> AIX Information Center -> AIX Information Center End.

To uninstall the AIX Information Center select Programs -> AIX Information Center -> Uninstall the AIX Information Center. The InstallShield wizard will display and step you through the uninstall process.

Mike,

thanks for your post. So there some different CDs in the market, because I use:

I'm using

AIX 5L V5.3
Documentation CD
5765-G03
Volume 1 of 2

LCD4_7508_00

And there is not even of the files you mentioned in your post. And the README states as I posted before: "for use and installtion for AIX only!"
