I have an Excel document containing a list of names in one tab and a single date in another tab. I have merged the names into Word and want the first merged entry to have the date given, then have the rest each auto-incremented by a week from that date. Is this do-able and any ideas how to do it?

Also, can the merged list be repeated more than once?

Although I am doing this in Word, it can just as easily been done in Excel if that's better.

Hi,

Whatever 'merging' of names and dates would be immeasurably easier, performed in Excel prior to your Word Mail Merge.

That is an excellent idea and so simple I never thought of it. But I am not sure how to do it so that the date is entered once in the Setup tab as it will have to be changed from time to time, and to have it autopopulate a column next to the names. I am also trying to figure out how to do it without VBA if possible. I'm using Excel 2007.

It is ULTRA SIMPLE!

Select the first cell that you want the date displayed in.

=

Select the SHEET containing your DATE

Select the CELL containing your DATE

hit F4 until both ROW & COLUMN reference is ABSOLUTE

[ENTER]

COPY the cell

Select ALL CELLS you want the date to be in

Edit > Paste[/highlight]
[/tt]
Now each time you change the date in the sheet containing your date, all the dates will change accordingly on the sheet containing your names.

Thanks! What I ended up doing was pretty much what you suggested but in each cell after the initial one I put =A2+7 since each one needs to be a week after the previous one. The dates should all be on Friday unless it is a holiday. Is there some way to make sure that the date is not a holiday and, if it is, to move that one only a day ahead?

Back to the original merged Word document, it seems to be repeating the table column names with each entry and I can't seem to make it not do that. Thanks.
