How would I go abouts setting up a dial in administration. I want to set it up so that I can dial in remotely from home with a modem to do admminstrations or and emergency changes to my switch. I currently have remote access enable at this time (I know it is highly recommended by Avaya to disable remote access).
But how would or where would I have to start to get this to work.
Thanks for any help.....

This is what you have to do:

1)Your loginID
Make sure that the option "Access to INADS Port?" is set to Y. (command: change login xxxx, enter your password at the top, change the field and press Enter)

2) Make sure that the option "Customer Access to INADS port?" is set to Y.
You can do this with the command : change sys main

That is it.
Connect to your INADS port and you will be able to login.
You need to know the number.....

Regards,
Erik.

I dont have main when I do a "change sys" I have feautures and security or CDR only options. What is INDAS anyway and what number would I dial? Im a bit lost now. THanks for any suggestions or info.

The easiest way perhaps may be to pull the telephone line out of the back of the PBX and plug an analog phone into it and make a call to another extension (with display) and read that number (if internal). Or if you don't have caller-id, there are codes to ANAC the phone (outside POTS line) and find out what number you're on. Once you have that then plug it back into the PBX and dial it... if you hear a modem squeel then you can try and dial into it with a modem and connect.

Pull which telephone line out of my PBX 98converter.
So is the INDAS also a maintenance remote number of some sort or something. I think now all I need is to find out what number to dial to get into the system. hmmm still confused here when you say to pull the telephone line out of my PBX?

Hi Manny_1,

Maybe you can call to Avaya and ask them what the number is that they call when they need to do maintenance ??

If you want to follow cables, (on my PBX) the pstn line is connected to the Auxiliary board of my 1st carrier (connection 25 on the patch panel).
Go to the back of your switch and try to follow the cable that is installed on connector 1. You should end-up with a analog line.
But I would go for the first option, call Avaya.

If you don't have the option "main" when you do a "change sys" can mean that you are using a user-id that has no access to change that option (I think you need to be a super-user). Maybe you can ask Avaya to check that out as well.

Good luck,
Erik
