SETTING UP NTP ON A C2950G SWITCH 2

I am trying to configure two C2950G switches for simple NTP, so when it is powered up it will get and set the clock automatically. I don't need authentication, associations, or broadcast. What would be the best way to do this? Searching on the forum resulted in nothing. The Cisco documentation did not have any examples of anything simple.

Heh. That's the problem with it - they don't tell you how to do stuff, they just catalog a bunch of commands, with red herrings and omissions. If you're lucky you'll see what you want to do, but usually it's not that simple.

I figure they do this to increase the value of their certifications. Which is odd really, because the Cisco courses I have done have always been really superficial - for example, the CCNP course that includes QoS, goes over QoS in about 2 hours (from memory) without actually telling you anything useful, or even explaining how QoS works or any of the issues you encounter with QoS.

If you're trying to do something more complex, if you can find a Cisco white paper, *that*'s where you learn the useful stuff.

That doesn't surprise me! I remember the first time I configured one of these C2950Gs. There was a learning curve of course, but the docs do leave something to be desired. The Cisco documentation is definitely worse than the Nortel practices of old. But the NTP config was just confusing. I'll try that command and see how it works.
